CLUB FINALS 2023

SATURDAY 16th and 17th SEPTEMBER 2023 - CLUB FINALS

The Club finals were held on two days. Saturday was a dull day with some slight showers but the matches went ahead on time.  Despite the weather there was a good turnout of spectators.  The standard of bowling was very high.

There is a total of 10 matches to be played. Seven finals were held on Saturday.  The results are shown below. Only one was held on Sunday as two were cancelled due to injury to one of the finalists. For these two trophies the awards went to the winners of the semi-finals.  These were: First, the Davis Cup - This is the novices trophy for which bowlers must not have won a major singles competition in the previous 5 years;  winner - Julie Pitt. Second to be played was the Warren Cup - Ladies Pairs - winners - Sue Wood and Liz Males.

For Sunday there was a weather warning.  The match was able to start at 9.50am but heavy rain started not long after as Julie Pitt and Dave Burge played Steve Clayton and Terri Lake for the mixed pairs Roy Wellen shield. However, by 9 ends the green was waterlogged  and it was decided to complete the match on Monday.  Monday weather was acceptable and the match was completed.  It was a very close match and the score was 13-13  with one end to play which was won by Terri and Steve making the final score 15 - 13.
